Today I wanna talk about the difference between a surname and a nickname.
Original Bloodline Label
This label is taking place over our original word Surname. It means your birth family’s name. There’s nothing to escape that unless you change your name legally of course. In terms of how you’re viewed in the eyes of the world, it correctly intentifies you. DNA is tied with this part of your reputation. It’s amazing to reflect and take a moment to ponder what this part of your life really means. There could really be a single member of your family (or branch) that establishes something that’ll define your entire family tree.
Nickname: Reputation Built In The Streets
Depending on the path you choose, your reputation is built more with what you’re doing as an average civilian. This is separate from your typical professional image. I like to parallel this the same way it happens with athletes. It’s not too uncommon to find athletes get give a nickname for having such a commanding story behind their performances. Of course, I’m speaking to the athlete that’s not restricted with a professional league in where they have rules and regulations that have to be followed (when discussing athlete conduct). I mean somebody that might be known just for appearing at your public park or local gym. These names they build mean everything to them sometimes.
Final thoughts
I felt it was important to discuss this since we’re in an age where you can build an entirely new persona that typically starts with a name. Again, we know It’s known as family name – surname. Your nickname is more informal and non-legal, given to you by friends, family, or colleagues. Of course it’s not everything, but for many it is. I actually hold value in it myself. That’s why we discussed this today. But let me know what you think about the two.
