I’ll be explaining what some good brand colors are.
It’s an objective opinion that could lead to do some good insights hopefully.
Brand building is a major focus of this site, so selecting the best colors for yours is going to be of importance at some point.
So without further ado, let’s look at some of the good brand colors that could be considered when creating one of your own.
What Are Some Good Brand Colors?
- Red
- Black
- Yellow
- Blue
- Orange
They’re not out in any particular order, but those are a set of colors that stick out immediately and seem to fit the criteria for what I would deem good brand colors.
Red: The Bold Color of Intensity
Red is the bold color of intensity as I put it and I’ll stand on that any day. It’s associated with so many things that are urgent. It’s:
• One half of the sirens on police vehicles
• the warning color for when your phone’s battery level is low
• The extra warning on your phone that reiterates your action before it’s irreversible
• The most charismatic characters in fiction have a red variation of some sort
Apply it to a brand and you’re sure to get the same effects. It’s usually a factor among most competitors.
You can refer to Target, Wendy’s, Jewel Osco, Hyvee, etc. also for reference.
Black: The Conservative Force of Authority
Black is another bold color of choice that could compliment plenty of brands that care about their visuals.
It’s conservative in many ways and typically commands authority among anyone that encounters it.
I mainly see it function as the typography of whatever the company name is.
So you won’t find many other things that even have to be put with a brand that has its name spelled out in all black font.
There’s plenty of instances in where black is a predominant statement.
Maybe it could symbolize a canvass that sets the stage for more to be added. Sometimes it’s death.
Anyway it’s a large part of most campaigns that include its usage.
Yellow: The Soft Color That Ties In With Comfort
These titles are really starting to capture the full essence of the message, but yellow is gonna require more.
Yellow is less of an aggressive tone than probably anything else on the list.
It’s exactly as the title says in being associated with comfort.
There’s not many brands you can name in where yellow signifies aggression.
That’s not to say it doesn’t have room for power though.
We get constant pictures painted in where yellow also represents a complete or even mastered form in comparison.
I like paralleling through pop culture, so immediately with yellow, my mind goes to Super Saiyan in DragonBall Z or Super Sonic in the Sonic series.
It has almost an elegant or heavenly touch when applied strategically.
Blue: The Cool Ambassador of Permission
Blue has been a cool color for a very long time. It’s part of the patriotic color scheme of several countries globally.
When you see this color it tends to be pretty inviting and warm although it’s still commanding in many ways.
There tends to be a large representation when you see it applied. This color has a cold effect too.
You think of the inside of a car and the knobs that control the heating and cooling of the car include this color.
Again, it controls the cooling aspect.
It just continues to compliment and support the thought if you keep it on a car.
The color of the coolant is usually the same and it’s not too uncommon to see the color of the dash be that color.
It continues even further with its application on the phone too.
If you have an iPhone, blue is the highlighted color for when you’re proceeding forward with an action on the phone.
Again, usually when you’re granting permission for the phone to carry out an action.
Even if you apply it to trading if you’ve ever done it before.
When you’re in the process of gaining a profit, the color is blue; another indicator that you’re doing is working.
Orange: The Risky Color of Opportunity

I label Orange as a risky color of opportunity because it’s flexible in observance.
There’s color schemes where Orange is incorporated and it’s taken very serious, and also times where it’s on the reverse.
I’ve experienced amazing sports cultures thrive off an orange color scheme.
There’s also the fruits of the earth where most are generally well liked such as oranges and grapefruits.
You can even throw a popular vegetable in carrots. The point being is that orange is actually highly popular.
It doesn’t seem to have many fickle fanatics.
It’s another bold statement in how bright of a color it is, but it could be taken in many different ways; both reasons being what makes it a strong candidate to consider for branding.
Final thoughts
These are the color that I feel are the best to consider with branding again:
- Red
- Black
- Yellow
- Blue
- Orange
This isn’t definitive by any means, but they should be considered when deciding a color to go with for your brand.
But what do you think about the colors selected with the examples given as well?
