I wanna start this off with making the statement that reinvention is something that’s usually forced but the best of us will plan to do it. This is something that’s not discussed enough so I’ll be who does it. We can chop this up as a rare moment since it’s not something done yet; at least on here. But we’re gonna discuss this in detail and hopefully get some “a-ha” moments of clarity through paying it some attention. So let’s get into the topic moving forward.
Reinvention is commonly forced but also is what the best of us makes plans for
I say reinvention is something we’re usually forced to do but the more enlightened actually makes plans for. That’s true because the people that’s interested in personal development will go through several phases of improvement to become who it is they believe they should be. It’s either done because we have a proactive attitude or a reactive one.
Reinvention Creates Psychological Distance From Past Failures
That’s absolutely true! The goal of reinventing yourself is to separate your past life and in some cases the current with your future. It could be paralleled with several concepts. I personally enjoy doing so with sports, and can easily do it with rebranding. So a team that’s trying to communicate their goal of coining a better reputation than what they had before an event usually is looking to carry this agenda out.
Let’s say we’re mentioning football for example: the Chicago Bears are going through a reinvention that parallels this concept well.

For this 2025-2026 season they’re finally the NFC North champions, and this hasn’t happened since 2018. Since that period in time they’ve had several coaching and quarterback changes. If we psychoanalyze the situation, it should clearly communicate that what their franchise was focusing on and finally executing well is a leadership change. This has to be a refreshing change for the die-hards. Winning is finally becoming the standard, as opposed to a season they were just in last place with.
Final thoughts
So again: Reinvention is commonly forced but also is what the best of us makes plans for.
Sounds inevitable. That should be embraced if you’re a person that subscribes to the growth mindset.
A piece of advice that I learned and ran with is that we either live with the pain of discipline or regret.
It applies because that’s a majority of life. We either do something because we want to or it’s that we’re told to do it.
