How I Discovered My Unique Value

I wanna talk a bit about how I discovered my unique value. It feels a bit conceited to do so, but it’s necessary.

Your unique value is the product differential for marketing terms.

It’s important that you’re able to identify this because it can be your greatest motivator and confidence builder with choosing to be a solopreneur like me.

I’ll be breaking down what it took for me to find my own, and where it’s taking me moving forward in my career.

Let’s get into it!

How I Discovered my unique value

I discovered my unique value actually through joining IG lives with media personalities. Stick with me here. Hanging with these people and joining discussions with them allowed me to gain feedback on what I bring to the table. Whether it’s in the comments section or hearing directly from the people I’m joining. That’s only one way though. Another that I can easily reflect on is my experiences as a student athlete too.

What helped me trust that it was worth sharing or monetizing?

What helped me trust that my value was worth sharing and ultimately monetizing is the fact that others like me were doing it. I got a chance to interact and work closely with others that weren’t doing much different than me. I would think if they were able to do it so should I. You see enough people become a success story and they’re in the same stratosphere you’re in, you believe.

Three Simple Questions to Uncover Your Unique Value Proposition

How do I identify my own core values?

Identifying your own core values happens with getting tested in going through deep waters. You find that thing that helps you remain firm in your beliefs. These are the things that make you smile and happy to be alive. There’s several activities and such that help wake up this awareness:

  • Good coaching in a sport or team of choice
  • Extra curricular activities that encourage self reflection
  • Active participation in groups that instill morals and principles

Not everyone’s the same when it comes to discovering yourself. What they have in common though is that passion is usually the main factor to drive the individual. You are highly likely going to love doing whatever that thing is.

What is my unique identity?

Your unique identity is the image that you created to make you stand out from competitors. It’s external in many ways but it’s also internal. The key thing about this trait is that it helps you become familiar. It’s what people mean when they say “I’ve seen your type before.” In many ways it could be considered your character. There may be others that can be tied into what your identity is in this case, but it’s scarce; highly unlikely that it’s anyone in your immediate circle.

How do I know I’m unique?

You’re gonna know you’re unique because it’s your defining trait. Take a sport stat breakdown for example: if a commentator had to have something to say about you for a scouting report, it’s anything they would have to.
