A Bold Step I Took That Felt Uncomfortable At The Time But Ultimately Moved Me Closer To Fulfillment (Example)

I’ll be sharing a bold step I took that felt uncomfortable at the time. Not only that, but when it ultimately moved me closer to fulfillment.

A Bold Step I Took That Felt Uncomfortable At The Time But Ultimately Moved Me Closer To Fulfillment

Deciding to move out of state and attend college for my sport. This was actually more uncomfortable for the people I grew up with because I was the life of my friend group. Moving away meant a lot of things would slow down but it was fulfiilling because I was able to expand my worldview and challenge myself to start life over again with new people. That’s a sense of fulfillment that I needed to experience.

Is this job slowly damaging my physical or mental health more than I’m willing to admit?

This is a question that has to be asked and eventually answered at some point when choosing to work a job with anybody. Your physical and mental health are your wealth before you even start getting paid. Not every job you choose to work is worth it in this capacity. I’ve had jobs where the pay was really good but the toll it took on me in actually both areas cancelled out anything they were willing to pay me.

What signs of chronic stress have I been ignoring because “pushing through” feels normal?

There’s several signs of chronic stress that we get warnings about before they turn into bigger issues.

We may get the warning through feelings such as:

  • Severe exhaustion
  • Poor attitudes with the people close to you
  • Body aches
  • Eating when not necessarily being hungry

It’s up to us to recognize the root cause behind our habits.

”Pushing through” because it feels “normal” is a toxic mentality that’s reflective of cultures that I’d like to think has evolved to some extent.

What that communicates is that we’re not allowed to feel pain or anything uncomfortable, and sharing when we feel that way.
