I’ll be explaining what Whop is used for.
What is Whop used for?
- selling digital products
- Selling memberships
- Selling online services
Selling digital products
Selling digital products is one of the features of having a Whop. If you’re a software engineer, you’re gonna love this one:
Most people aren’t aware that they have options when it comes to selling a digital product that they created.
There’s a scarce amount of platforms that’s popular when it comes to actually facilitating the sale of whatever content they have.
Depending on the industry that you’re active in, the platform that you would host on would be pretty typical.
For example:
- If you’re an artist in the music industry, you’re likely counting on sales from iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and platforms alike
Selling Membership
Selling memberships are yet another way to exist within the Whop community.
This is another platform exclusive feature that’s limited depending on which one you’re operating on.
One place I see this happening in mostly is Patreon and YouTube. There’s others too with the likes of Twitch, Kick, and even Instagram.
The idea behind it is having a tier package in where you monetize your fanbase.
Ideally you encourage them to go “all in” on your brand, but you also realize that you have to offer something better than what you serve on the main page.
It’s typically a form of monetizing that pays out on a monthly basis to the creator, but provides value for the entire month with whoever decides to join.
Selling Online Services
Selling online services are another way that the Whop platform can be utilized to do.
If you have a skill that’s considered to be at an expert level, it could be monetized in a way that you’re teaching or even creating something for someone else as a service.
For that last point, it’s important to add: creating can be a service in itself.
One strong example that stands out is being hired to perhaps be talent on behalf of someone else.
So it’s comparable to being contracted for your services. You can work out the details for compensation and work through negotiation.
I personally appreciate this approach most, but that’s because I enjoy intimate experiences that take customized interactions in order to get highly performative results.
